The purpose of the Architectural Planning & Design Laboratory is to conceptualize and explore architecture as social innovation. Todays society is faced with various social problems (=wicked problems) that are difficult to solve and define due to high levels of uncertainty and complexity. In light of this background, our laboratory proactively views architecture as a methodology for the progressive reformation and improvement of society, and explores "design methods" and "planning theories" necessary to achieve this. We are planning to concentrate on the following themes: (1) circulation of research and design, (2) conceptualization of habitat models required for the next generation, and (3) invisible slum.
建築家・連勇太朗が主宰する建築計画研究室は、ソーシャルイノベーション（=社会変革）としての建築を構想し探求することを目的とします。現代社会は高次元の不確実性と複雑性によって、解決や定義が困難な様々な社会的課題（=wicked problem）に直面しています。本研究室はこうした背景を踏まえ、建築（＝設計、建築物、空間、環境、思考方法、デザイン）を、社会を漸進的に改革・改良していくための方法論として積極的に捉え、その実現のために必要な「設計方法」や「計画理論」を探求します。研究会を発足してしばらくは、①リサーチとデザインの循環、②次世代に求められる住環境モデルの構想、③不可視のスラム（invisible slum）というテーマに集中的に取り組んでいく予定です。
